Breast Surgery

Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, alternatively called augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgery done for increasing the size of the breasts. Breasts can be enlarged by placing silicone implants underneath the breast tissues or chest muscle. They may also be enlarged by fat grafting - when fat is taken out from other parts of the body and then injected into the breast tissues. Two types of breast implants are commonly available - silicone gel and saline, depending on the types of inner core. The outer shell consists of silicone in both. They are available in a wide array of sizes, profiles, shell thickness and shape.

It is a good procedure for women who are unhappy because their breasts are too small; and women who are self-conscious about their appearance, frequently wearing tight clothing or bikini suits. It is necessary for women who are losing firmness of their breasts over time; and women with rapid weight loss, who are experiencing changes in breast size or shape. It is essential for women who have breast asymmetry, when one breast is smaller than the other; and in women following breast cancer or other conditions, who require breast reconstruction.

Breast Reduction
Breast reduction, alternatively called reduction mammaplasty, is a surgery done for decreasing the size of the breasts. It involves removal of excess fat, tissue and skin from the breasts. Sometimes, only liposuction may also be helpful. Women with large breasts benefit from breast reduction surgery, as it helps them have breasts that are proportional to the body; and in some, to get rid of the associated shoulder pain and discomfort. It improves self-image and self-esteem of women, and increase their physical activities.

Breast Lift
Breast lift, alternatively called mastopexy, is a surgery done for uplifting the position of the nipple and areola in the breasts. It rejuvenates shape of the breasts by removing excess skin and restores firmness. This surgery does not change the size of the breasts significantly, unless it is combined with breast augmentation or breast reduction. Women worried about sagging breasts and downward pointing nipple benefit from this surgery. It boosts self-image and self-esteem in women; and enable them to look forward to life with renewed interest.

Nipple Correction
Inverted nipples and enlargement of nipples are common problems, which can occur naturally or after breast feeding. They are corrected by specialized surgery of the nipples. Many nipple correction surgeries are available, which needs to be individualized for treatment depending on individual requirements. Being comparatively simpler surgeries, they can be performed as day care. Women can feel happy and confident within a matter of hours.

Autologous Fat Grafting
Fat Grafting to the breast is an exciting new way of enlarging the breast. Excess fat present in the abdomen and thighs are harvested through a special liposuction cannula, and processed by special techniques to yield tissues rich in stem cells derived from fat. These specially processed fat cells enriched with stem cells are then injected into the breast by a special technique. No silicone implants are necessary in this procedure, thereby avoiding all complications associated with implants. As simultaneous liposuction is performed to remove fat from unwanted areas, enhanced body contours and aesthetic results are possible.
